Disabled adaptations and assistance

Supporting Your Independence at Home

At Grand Union, we are dedicated to helping you live independently in your home for as long as possible. We understand the importance of maintaining your independence, safety, well-being, and dignity, which is why we offer a range of adaptations and equipment to enhance your quality of life.

Our Accessibility Team is here to guide you every step of the way, providing advice and support as you navigate the journey to a more accessible home. Whether you need home adaptations or are moving to a more suitable property, we’re here to help.

Adapting your home

Adaptations are physical changes that can be made to your home to meet a health or disability need. Adaptations can be minor, major or complex. Equipment can also be provided to prevent and/or support adaptations.

For customers needing major or complex adaptations, we work closely with your local council and authority to secure additional funding, including applications for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) when recommended by an occupational therapist. Please note that DFGs are subject to council means testing and apply to all GUHG tenants, including those in starter tenancies.

Together, we can ensure that your home continues to meet your needs, empowering you to live confidently and independently.

Minor Adaptations

Minor adaptations are straightforward installations that do not involve any structural changes to your home.
