
For more than a third of our customers, their household spend is more than their income. That’s what January’s cost-of-living survey has revealed.
This was the second survey on the subject in two years. Our aim was to help us to understand how the ongoing cost of living concerns are impacting our customers. We also wanted to see if anything had changed since the original survey.
We found there is an increasing level of concern when thinking about meeting financial commitments over the next year. Some of the key results were:
- Many customers not able to always pay all bills on time
- Number of customers with contents insurance down 13%
- Around two thirds said their current financial situation has a negative impact on their physical and mental health.
Here are some of the things Voice members are doing to try and improve their finances:
Elliott, Amplius’ Financial Wellbeing Manager, said: “It paints a worrying picture, albeit one that doesn’t surprise me. The fact over a third of households are running up debt (monthly spend more than income) is very worrying, albeit also backs up why it’s so important for us to keep a debt advice service.”

What’s coming up?
