Major Adaptations
A major adaptation is a major or permanent change to your home to enable an adult or child with disabilities to access essential rooms in the home.
Major adaptations to you home can include:
•a wetroom
•over bath shower
•door widening
•hoists, stairlift or through-floor lift
•ramps and steps
•wheelchair accessible kitchens
Will require funding either through a disabled facilities grant (DFG) or disabled facilities Work (DFW) this is dependent on your Local Authority.
To enable this, an occupational therapist would need to assess you and provide us and the local authority with their recommendation. If a DFG is required, the local authority will be undertaken a financial test of resources by.
Landlord Review of Adaptations
As your landlord, Amplius will assess the adaptation based on reasonable and practicable criteria, and in most cases, we aim to grant permission.
Major adaptations Service standard
For Northamptonshire Customers:
High priority:
Survey completed within 10 working days.
Works completed within 3 to 9 months from receipt of recommendation.
Medium priority:
Survey completed within 4 months.
Works completed within 9 to 12 months from receipt of recommendation.
Low priority:
Survey completed within 6 months.
Works completed within 12 to 18 months from receipt of recommendation.
For All Other Customers:
Our Project Surveyors will evaluate the technical feasibility of the adaptation requested and may need to visit you.
The Accessibility Team Project Surveyor will then confirm the Landlord’s Permission to the Grants Team at your local Council. Who will advise you of their Service Standards and Process.
