Our Board Chair, Steve Benson, was awarded honorary life membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) last night at the CIH Presidential dinner in London.
The award was presented by Geraldine Howley, Chair of the CIH, and recognises Steve’s significant contribution to the CIH and the housing profession since he first joined as a member on 1 August 1975.
Steve has had a distinguished career in housing, with experience working with local authorities, housing associations and a homeless charity. A previous CIH President, Steve has also held a variety of governance roles at the CIH and served on the boards of a number of housing associations.
Steve said “It’s a great honour to receive this award. I’m completely surprised and delighted.”
Steve was personally congratulated on his outstanding contribution by Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party, who was a guest speaker at the event.
Aileen Evans, our Group Chief Executive, added: “I am delighted that Steve has won the Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of his services to the housing sector.
“Like every member of our Board, Steve shares our values and is committed to a future where everyone has a place to call home.”
