This week we said a fond farewell to Gillian Walton, who has retired from our Board after nine years.
Group Chief Executive, Aileen Evans, said: “I want to pay tribute to the huge influence Gillian has had on the Grand Union we see today. From the very start of Mid Beds Housing Association through to today there’s not many years of our 29 year history that Gillian hasn’t been a very visible influence on our work.
“Gillian has fantastic organisational skills and the ability to both get things done and get others to do things. Always one for an action plan and making sure tasks were achieved, Gillian never missed deadlines and was very clear about the standards we should achieve. But more than that, one of her greatest strengths is her ability to read people and situations, and handle the most difficult of situations with dignity and respect.
“On a personal level, Gillian is remarkable – kind, determined, compassionate, thoughtful and supportive.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done for Grand Union and thank you too from Board and staff members, but also our customers because you’ve impacted on their lives too.”
