We currently have over £18,000 in rent payments held in a suspense account because it is impossible to match payments up with the right rent accounts, for example when an incorrect or no reference number has been quoted and the payment has just been called “Dad’s rent”, “Rent” or “Garage Rent”.
Please always use your correct rent reference number, rather than your name or other description, when making rent payments via online banking or paying by standing order. We take a lot of time trying to match payments up with the right rent account as there can be many accounts under the same or similar name. In the meantime the money sits in a suspense account instead of the correct rent account.
